NFL 2019 Week 5 MNF: Browns vs. 49ers Betting Prediction 10/7/2019
This Monday Night Football we’ll have a tremendous game between the Cleveland Browns and the San Francisco 49ers. A closed game is expected and one of the most difficult to predict. It will be a battle in the trenches where the winner will take an important step forward in the aspirations for this year.
The Cleveland Browns come from giving some hints of what could become this season. They comfortably won a visiting match against a divisional rival. The first demonstration of what is expected of these Browns for this year. Despite having Baker Mayfield, Odell Beckham Jr., and Jarvis Landry, this team is really dangerous when Nick Chubb leads the attack.
Chubb ran for 165 yards and 3 TDs last week and already accumulates a total of 398 yards in the season. Mayfield even now has more interceptions than touchdowns and is tied for second place with a total of 6, just behind Goff who has one more game. The Browns’ backfield will face the 5th best defense in allowed ground yards and if the ground play doesn’t work, he’s going to have to rely on Mayfield not to make mistakes for the first time this season.
The 49ers won without having played. They took advantage of the Rams’ loss to stay at the top of the division and again came out awarded when two rivals from the same division faced off in this week’s TNF. Like Mayfield, Jimmy Garoppolo has not been very fine. He has released 5 touchdowns and 4 interceptions and has also had to rely heavily on his ground play.
Matt Breida and Raheem Mostert are sharing the load and have made the Niners backfield the second-best in ground yards per game. George Kittle has been the reference by air but still owes us the first touchdown of the season. The defense has been the strong point in the first 3 games and that’s where they must stop Cleveland if they want to keep undefeated.
Browns tackle Chris Hubbard is in doubt for this game because of a foot injury. Supporter Willie Harvey dropped out of last week’s game and is also in doubt. For the 49ers, Dee Ford has not trained but is expected to be recovered from his quadriceps injury by Sunday.
