UCF Quarterback Darriel Mack Jr. is Out

  • The UCF Knights quarterback Darriel Mack Jr will miss a leat the preseason camp because of breaking ankle.

CBS’s Chip Patterson reported Darriel Mack Jr is unable to play, according to the report the quarterback broke his ankle early this week in a non-football-related activity, it will leave him out of the field.

“Quarterback Darriel Mack Jr. suffered a broken ankle from non-football related activity this week and there is no specific timetable for his return. He will not be available for training camp,” UCF coach Josh Heupel said in a statement.
“We hope Darriel has a speedy recovery, but we are excited about the talent we have in the quarterback room to start the season.”

With Milton slated to miss the upcoming season, Mack was the clear cut favorite to take snaps on opening day. With recent events, the battle for that right takes place between Notre Dame transfer senior Brandon Wimbush, redshirt freshman Quadry Jones and true freshman Dillon Gabriel.
