The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Carolina Panthers collide this Thursday night in Week 10 game of the 2018 NFL season. Today we bring a great Thursday night football prediction against the spread, sponsored by our top sportsbook Intertops.
This will be only the seventh time the Steelers and Panthers face an NFL game. The Panthers and Steelers met for the first time in 1996, in a game that Carolina won by a score of 18-14. Since then, the Steelers have spun five consecutive wins against the Panthers, the last being in 2014.
And the Panthers are close to Saints
The good news for Panthers fans is that they are currently only one game away from the New Orleans Saints leaders at the top of the NFC South division. Even the Panthers boast of perfect balance at home, winning their five home games so far this season. Also, quarterback Cam Newton has had a phenomenal season and has thrown touchdowns in seven consecutive duels, his current best mark as a professional player.
That said, not all is good news for the Panthers, as a visitor they have only five wins in their last 26 games against opponents with winning records.
The Steelers don’t stay back
The Pittsburgh Steelers lead the AFC North and are coming off their fourth straight win by beating the Baltimore Ravens 23-16. Despite being without his star runner, Le’Veon Bell, due to contractual problems, his understudy James Conner has done an excellent job in the running game. Connor has managed to get 100 yards or more in each of his last four outings with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Also, the Pittsburgh defense has been a welcome surprise in recent weeks. Throughout the Steelers’ four straight wins, the defense has allowed less than 21 points in each of those meetings.
Steelers are a safer bet
The Steelers enjoy a fantastic record in games played at night. Pittsburgh has 13 wins in its last 14 night matches. Cam Newton and the Panthers could be playing at their best in a long time, but I think it will be the Steelers who get the victory under the lights of “Thursday Night”.
Winners: Pittsburgh Steelers
